A Free Trip to Seattle

Space Needle As my last quarter at UCDavis came about. I found myself with a light course load, and focused on the future. That was primarily because of all the interviewing I was doing. It kept me fairly busy, constantly trying to prove myself, but it had its perks too.

After spending spring break in Ohio on the dairy, I was in Davis for one day of class. And the next thing I knew, I was flying to Seattle. I had managed to fool Microsoft into thinking I was a potential hire. So they gave me an all expense paid trip to Redmond, Washington. Of course, I had to sit through a day of interviews.

I arrived in Seattle on April Fools Day, (a Saturday afternoon). So I got my Pontiac Grand Am rental car and headed directly to REI. After about an hour of wandering through the clearance items and looking at some Mount Ranier maps, I decided to get my free tour of downtown. First stop: The Space Needle. The picture on the right, rotates through five of the best angles as viewed from the top.

After seeing the sites in the city, I checked into my hotel and met some of my friends that had moved into the area after graduating from Davis. Laurianne, Jenna, and Maggie took me out to see the local flavor at a comedy club. On Sunday, we hit the slopes at Stevens Pass. I think that Stevens Pass is the first resort I've been to, where the painted the chairs a variety of colors. You might notice that the chair in the background is painted a nice pink color. So, all the beginners can say they stayed on the pink chair all day.

Jenna and I went off on our own to check out the mountain. I was on my tele skis and she drug me over all these diamond and double diamond runs. We both lived. It seemed like the mountain would have some awsome expert runs when the snow conditions are right. I'll have to come back in February some time.

As you can see, the weather was perfect for the entire weekend. I must have brought the sun to Seattle with me. A few clouds on Saturday, but Sunday was my warmest ski day of the year. Oh well, I figured I'd should show up at my interviews with a nice ski tan. At least they'd know where my priorities are.
